For help with Murder Mystery: Lights Out, email [email protected]. Include your iPhone model, iOS version and a description of what happened. Please do not send secret cards or other players' personal details.

Start a game

Gather at least three people in the same house; four or more is best. If everyone has an iPhone, enter your name and host a new game. Share the four-character game code so the others can join.

For one phone or no internet connection, choose Pass & play. Add each player's name, select rooms and harmless props, and deal the cards. Pass the phone to each player in turn and hold the card to read it in secret.

Connection problems

Check that your phone is online and that everyone is using the same game code and server. The app tries to reconnect to a saved seat when you return. If the game has ended, leave it and ask your host for a new code. An online game cannot be moved into offline mode midway through a round.

The game will not start

Online games need at least three connected players when the host deals. Offline games need at least three names. Add at least one room and one harmless prop. Only the host can deal an online game.

Play safely

Keep paths clear and agree safe boundaries before dimming the lights. Use soft, harmless props. All murders are imaginary. The in-app How to play screen explains the full round, from dealing to the final accusation.
